Is it time to relocate overseas? Sometimes it is your job that requires international shipping. It may be that you family would like to you to return home so that you can live nearby them. Family member usually make the move as their parents get older. Flying across the ocean monthly does get tiring and expensive.

So where do you start on an international move? Do you want to ship a few pallets of household goods, or do you need to ship all of your belongings. You can look at using a 20-foot shipping container or a 40-foot container. How do you estimate the size container that you will need?

Make a list of all of the furniture that you would like to take with you. Do not forget items that you have in your garage, attic, basement and storage unit. Find a packing company that knows how to wrap the furniture that will go inside of the shipping container. Will you have fine art or marble that will need to be crated in order to go into the container.

Next look for a company that has experience with international freight and international cargo. Shipping containers need to be loaded in a very short period of time. Anywhere between one to two hours. Your belongings need to be staged in a warehouse so that the shipping container can be loaded quickly.

Usually, three to five men are needed to load the container. Pallet jacks and forklifts may also be needed during the loading process. A container will need to be scheduled from the port at a specific date and time. Having a driver wait around for the loading will cost extra money.

These are just a few of the things that you need to look for when you are shipping your belongings internationally.
